P83 - Asthma inflammatory subtype specific treatment; a randomised clinical study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods single blind randomized clinical trial; asthmatic children with persistent symptoms undergoing treatment with fluticasone 100 mg bid and b2 agonist as required were studied. Group A (23 males / 17 females, aged 11.5±1.8 years) received fluticasone 200mg bid, and group B (21 males / 19 females, aged 11.5±1.8 years) clarithromycine 15 mg/kg bid, in addition to fluticasone 100 mg bid for 8 weeks. (FEV1%, C-CAT, SABA use, sputum induced % of eosinophils and neutrophils) were compared before and after treatment in each group.

Why inflammatory phenotyping is necessary for successful drug evaluation in asthma and COPD.
Identifying and treating the eosinophilic subtype of asthma has now achieved renewed importance for clinicians and scientists involved in clinical trials. This has happened following the near-demise of an antiinterleukin (IL)-5 monoclonal antibody (mepolizumab) as a candidate for asthma treatment [1] and its resurrection in trials based around using induced sputum eosinophils to identify a trea...
متن کاملDetermination the Role of Endothelial Cell-Specific Molecule-1(ESM-1) in Childhood Bronchial Asthma
Background Endothelial Cell-Specific Molecule-1 (ESM-1) is a 50 kDa soluble proteoglycan that is produced mainly the vascular endothelial cells of the kidney and lung. It is produced by the effects of proangiogenic and pro-inflammatory cytokines, and it indicates activation and dysfunction of the vascular endothelium. We aimed to detect the role of ESM-1 in childre...
متن کاملComparison of Seroflu and Seretide Inhalers on Spirometry Criteria and Clinical Symptoms in Patients with Severe and Moderate Asthma
Background and purpose: Asthma is one of the most prevalent chronic respiratory diseases which has become more prevalent over the past three decades. Seroflo and Seretide are inhalers that contain fluticasone (an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid) and salmeterol (a long-acting bronchodilator). This study aimed to compare the effects of Seroflo and Seretide nasal sprays on spirometry criteria and...
متن کاملHouse Dust Mite Allergy and Associated Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy in Allergic Asthma
There is an increasing trend in the global prevalence, morbidity, and economic burden associated with asthma in recent decades [1]. The Global Strategy for Asthma Management and Prevention Report [2] defined asthma as a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in which many cells and cellular elements are involved. Both host factors (primarily genetic) and environmental factors (primarily a...
متن کاملThe Role of Inflammatory Biomarkers in the Management of Children with Asthma
Background Making decision on asthma as an inflammatory disease is done mostly on the airways function and the patient symptoms which most of them are nonspecific and subjective. Also, the children are not able to express their signs and collaboration in examination of the lungs function. Evaluation of serum level inflammatory biomarkers can be useful in assessment of the response to treatment ...
